This listing will provide places to get Newspaper Subscription Deals and Cheap or Discounted Newspapers. You can save money on one newspaper or multiple newspapers if you know where to purchase, or how to negotiate a great price. I've put together this list of the top 5 ways of where and how to get discount newspapers. After reading this list, you should definitely be able to find or negotiate a better rate than what you are currently paying at the newsstand or for delivery. If you are purchasing newspapers mainly for the Coupon Inserts, I highly suggest that you purchase in increments of two(2) newspapers. This way you'll be able to double your savings on regular items, but especially for BOGO deals, where 2 of the same coupons can be used (One for each item in the BOGO sale). Multiple coupons also help when you are stocking up on items.
Purchase newspapers for 40 to 60% off when the offers become available through Daily Deal sites like:
Here’s an example of the Newspaper Subscription deals that they offer:
I was paying $28.07 for a 26 week Sunday only
Subscription to my Paper which comes to $56.14 per year. Then they went up to $33.91 for 26 weeks or
$67.82 per year and would not negotiate down, so I cancelled my subscription –
knowing that cancelling would give me power at negotiating a better rate when I
wanted to re-subscribe. But luckily,
before I could even call to re-negotiate and re-subscribe directly, Groupon
posted an offer for my local paper, stating “Good for 1-year Wednesday through
Sunday Subscription for $20 – Limit 2.”
When I saw this, I jumped on it and purchased 2 one-year subscriptions
for only $40! If I had purchased 2
Sunday-only subscriptions directly with my paper, it would have cost me
$135.64. Not only was I saving $95.64,
but I was getting Wednesday-Saturday papers as well, plus double my coupons in
the Sunday paper which I needed anyway.
Purchase your Newspaper subscription from a discounter like DiscountedNewspapers.com if they're cheaper than your local carrier's prices and/or if a Daily Deal (as mentioned in #1 is not available). Enter your Zip Code to see if their rates are better than what you're paying now.
Purchase through your local Newspaper carrier at a reduced rate. When dealing
with your local Newspaper carrier by phone, don’t just accept the rate that
they give you or mail you in the Renewal Statement, because it will always be the highest rate. Oftentimes, they have a lower rate that they’re
offering to new subscribers, or they have a special that they’re running in
certain areas. Call up your local paper
and say, “Hi, I want to know if you’re running any specials for the paper in my
area, or if you're offering any specials to new subscribers.”
They will then ask you for your Zip Code and/or address, so that they can look up any available
offers. Even if you’re a current
subscriber, you still have leverage.
Tell them that your rate is simply too high and if they cannot lower
your rate to the new subscriber rate or special rate that you will have no
choice but to cancel your subscription.
Many times they will give you the lower rate. If they can’t, ask to speak with a
Supervisor. If the Supervisor cannot,
then follow through with your threat and cancel your subscription. After cancelling, wait 2 weeks, then call
back and subscribe at the new customer rate, unless a better deal comes in
through one of the Daily Deal sites while you're waiting.
If you would like to purchase 10 or more Sunday Papers each week, ask to speak to the Sales Manager at your local Newspaper, and ask for a volume discount. You should be able to get the Sunday paper at a substantially lower price for this type of quantity.
Although not the first place you might think of for Newspapers, they carry some larger Nationally distributed Newspapers, such as USA Today and the New York Times - National Edition. They also carry some smaller editions, so if you do not find your papers through discounted rates at the options listed above, be sure to check their site.
If you need more than two Sunday Papers, because you need additional Sunday Paper Coupon Inserts, then you should also check out the page that I authored, titled "25+ Ways to Get Additional Sunday Paper Coupons, Sunday Coupon Inserts Free & Cheap, Plus Other Free Coupons." You can also save yourself the work and purchase pre-clipped coupons from Coupon Clipping Services, that do the work for you and quickly mail you the specific sets of coupons that you order!

I got sick of my cable tv company raising their rates, so I was looking for alternatives to paying for the high price of cable like many others. Your free tv episodes list is GREAT! The links to the Networks and Cable Networks don’t just take me to their homepage, it takes me directly to the page where I view the tv episodes. Man, you guys are on the ball. I come here everyday to link to whatever program or network I plan to watch. Matthew B., USA
