Where to get Free Furniture

Attached is a list of where and how to get Free Furniture around town. There are many people that are either moving or just getting rid of furniture that they no longer want. Most will try to sell it first, on eBay, through Craigslist or at Yard Sales, but if it doesn't sell, they have two other options: donate it, or give it away. If they give it away, you might get a piece of furniture or other item that you want for free! The benefit to the other person is that you've hauled this item away from their home or office at no charge to them.




Where to get Free Furniture

Craigslist
Go to the main page of your local Craigslist, look under the "For Sale" section, under "free." Here is where people in your area list all of the free furniture and items that they are giving away.  Simply type into the search box the specific free item that you are looking for, i.e. sofa, cocktail table, desk, etc.

The FreeCycle Network
These are all groups of people in various towns that have got together and formed a group of people giving away stuff.  It's a movement to reuse and recycle in order to keep things out of landfills.  At the home page, enter your City and State to find a local group near you.  Click on one of those groups and you will then see what's being offered, and what's wanted (what others are looking for).  You can hit the green "Search" button.  You need to join (it's free) to use the service.

Curbside
If you know which day of the week is large item day, for furniture, appliances, etc. in your neighborhood; then get out with your pickup truck or trailer that morning before the trash truck arrives and scout for any goodies. There will be lots of junk, but there may be some diamonds in the rough. Wooden tables that can be resurfaced, sanded, refinished or painted; chairs that can be reupholstered, etc. Be certain to check for bedbugs.
